HBO boss left speechless by season 8 episodes of Game of Thrones - 'They are six movies' he said

'I’ve watched them twice without any CGI and I’m in awe'

HBO boss Richard Plepler has offered a tantalising update on the eighth season of Game of Thrones.

Speaking to Variety at a Golden Globes after-party, Plepler remained coy about specifics, but gave his own verdict on the final six episodes and revealed that each one feels like its own film.

“It’s a spectacle. The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, ‘I’m watching a movie,’” Plepler said.

"Show-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss knew the bar was high. They’ve exceeded the bar. I’ve watched them twice without any CGI and I’m in awe.

"Everybody’s in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production.”
